Entrepreneurship ventures are not a new concept in India. In order to see further growth of entrepreneurial initiative among women, leading financial institutions including nationalized, private and public sector banks, have introduced various loan schemes.

An empowered woman can stimulate a positive change in society. If the Government's initiative comes to fruition then we could see women entrepreneurs plying vehicles between towns in various parts of India.
This Independence Day the Rural Development Ministry is set to launch a self-employed program for women to support themselves financially.

Developing and monitoring financial services designed in accordance with the needs of women entrepreneurs and making them aware of such services through literacy programs not only meets the objective of financial inclusion but also adds to the overall socio-economic development of the country.

Cent Kalyani

Central Bank of India has launched the Cent Kalyani Scheme. The primary objective of this Scheme is to motivate female entrepreneurs to initiate a new project or extend or modernise an existing unit. It is available for women employed in the rural areas and cottage industries, small, agriculture and allied activities, medium and micro enterprises (MSME), self-employed women, Government-sponsored programs and retail trade. Under this scheme, Central bank provides a loan to the women entrepreneurs.

There is a lot of focus on promoting women entrepreneurship in India with the government and financial institutions having various schemes. One such scheme promoted by the State Bank of India (SBI) is Stree Shakti Package for Women Entrepreneurs.

Shakti Scheme

Dena Bank is a public sector banking company started with the vision of promoting economic opportunities for women and to set a path towards the economic empowerment of women. The bank creates a platform for woman entrepreneurs to get business loans. Mahila Udyam Nidhi Scheme

SIDBI Mahila Udyam Nidhi is designed to help meet gap in equity in startups by women entrepreneurs. SIDBI or Small Industries Development Bank of India is the principal financial institution for the promotion, financing and development of industry in the small scale sector. The purpose of Mahila Udyam Nidhi is to help women entrepreneurs meeting equity funds requirement will be setting up a new business.

Synd Mahila Shakthi Scheme

Loan Details- The following are the details of Synd Mahila Shakthi Scheme business loan Interests, charges, fees and Commissions: •To start up with the new business or to upgrade the existing business, the loan amount offered under the scheme is up to the maximum of Rs. 5 crores at a concessional rate of interest to the women entrepreneurs. •The base rate (at present 10.25%) will be applied for the loans up to the amount of Rs. 10 lakhs, and there is no collateral security will be insisted upon. •For the loans offered above Rs. 10 lakhs with the concession of 0.25% on the applicable rate of interest will be offered to the women entrepreneurs, and there are no processing charges, and documentation will be levied from the applicants. Purpose of Synd Mahila Shakthi Scheme- Under the scheme, the cash credit facility is offered to meet the requirements of working capital for the existing or new units. Term loan facility to set up a unit/business either Manufacturing Enterprises or service enterprise those who are qualified under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). It is offered mainly to upgrade existing units by the purchase of machinery, equipment, computers, vehicles etc.
